When a daughter asks to fix her Mommy's hair, she brings a brush, hair bands, and bows.
When a son says "I wanna fix Mama's hair," he carts over his Handy Manny tool box and winds his singing pliers in to your hair before yanking hard.
Fun times, friends. Fun times.

And, if I could just add to the difference, the end result of mommy's hair looks MUCH, much different. When the little girl finishes the serious business of hair styling, mom has a new look that typically sports a few bows or ribbons. Not so bad. But, when the boy goes to style mom, she walks away with a crazily matted do that requires tremendous effort to reconstruct to normal. aahhhh...but ya gotta love them little guys! ;)
