Books We Loved

Little Boy LOVES to read books! We read for at least one hour every day, and he usually spends an additional 15-30 min each day paging through books on his own. Naturally with this much reading time, he gets bored with his own books. So about once a month we trek down to the library and check out a boatload of kids books. I dig through the bins while Little Boy colors, builds puzzles, and plays with toys provided by the library. I love our library days!

We've certainly checked out our fair share of duds, but we've found a great many new favorites as well. Everyone knows and reads Dr. Seuss and Sandra Boynton (The Belly Button Book and others), but here are several more great finds we ran across this year, loved and approved of by both us and Little Boy:

Llama Llama Red Pajama (Anna Dewdney)
Bee Bim Bop (Linda Sue Park)
Saxaphone Sam & His Snazzy Jazz Band (Christine Schnieder)
Captain Bob Sets Sail (Roni Schotter)
Pirates Don't Change Diapers (Melinda Long)
Such a Silly Baby (Steffani Lorig)
The Race Car Alphabet (Brian Floca)
Toddlerobics Animal Fun (Zita Newcome)

If you're interested, Llama Llama, Captain Bob, and Pirates also have other fantastic books in the same series.

We're always looking for new books to try, so what library treasures did you find this past year for your avid little readers?
